Brisbane kids will be hopping into action with more than 270 free or affordable activities bolstering Council’s Easter school holiday program.
Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner said from 1 to 16 April, there will be boredom busting activities for kids of all ages as families explore Brisbane’s backyard.
“School holidays are the perfect time for families to make the most of our city. But with rising cost of living, it can be difficult to plan a day out on a budget,” Cr Schrinner said.
“Thankfully, Council is offering hundreds of free or affordable activities over the break, with something for everyone including sporting activities, library event, bush walks and science workshops to name a few.
For children five years and older, the Lord Mayor’s Children’s Program returns to Brisbane City Hall where students from the Aboriginal Centre for Performing Arts will share stories of their land and traditions through acting, song, and dance.
Teens can also get involved with various activities taking place over Brisbane Youth Week, including writing workshops, boxing and skateboard deck painting.
Those of all ages can enjoy learning more about our City with a stop in at the Brisbane Metro Information Centre, the Museum of Brisbane or book in for a City Hall clock tower tour.”
Residents are also encouraged to take advantage of our subtropical climate and get back to nature with more than 2180 parks scattered across the city.
“Our parks and green spaces offer everything from barbecues, playgrounds, outdoor gyms, ninja courses and walking tracks year-round for residents to enjoy,” Cr Schrinner said.
“Those looking to learn more about our city’s natural beauty can take advantage of our holiday bush walks and night adventures with our experienced council environmental staff.
No matter your age or interests, Brisbane is full of free things to see and do these holidays. The hardest part is finding time to explore them all!”
