Circus acts, outdoor cinemas and kayak adventures join over 300 events on the Schrinner Council’s free and affordable school holiday program this Easter.

Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner said Council’s extensive range of free and affordable activities during the holidays will continue to keep costs down.

“We want families to look forward to the Easter break, without worrying about the cost of their holiday itinerary,” Cr Schrinner said.

“Our Council is committed to ensuring our libraries, parks, pools, and stages are packed with free and affordable events to help keep the whole family entertained.

With some of the top end of our Active and Healthy programming costing just $12 for a family, there will be something for everyone in Brisbane this Easter.”

Low-cost activities like laser tag, orienteering and kayaking will bring the adventure to the holiday break with costs starting at less than $6 a person or $12 for a family.

Free events across Council libraries, parks and environment centres will offer everything from story times to skateboarding for kids to learn new skills in their suburbs.

Cr Schrinner said Victoria Park will add “egg-citing” free activities like Easter Bunny trails and outdoor cinemas to the list of must do events.

“Victoria Park is the perfect place to enjoy the Easter break, with family favourites like Peter Rabbit 2 and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory hitting the big screen,” he said.

“But that’s not all, families can enjoy active options like orienteering and the Great Easter Bunny Trail, create some Easter crafts or relax with live music on the lawn.

Victoria Park is a place for everyone, and these free events bring more to see and do to Brisbane’s biggest inner city parkland.”

Cr Schrinner urged families to book in advance to secure their spot on the holiday calendar.

“While many of the activities over the holidays are free of charge, most require booking in advance,” he said.

“Council will continue to offer fantastic events for kids of all ages as we help residents make the most of the school holidays here in Brisbane.”
