Brisbane creatives looking for their big break are encouraged to apply for two of Council’s latest grant opportunities; The Creative Sparks Grants Program and the Lord Mayor’s Creative Fellowships.
The Creative Sparks Grant program offers up to $10,000 for each successful applicant to assist artists, arts workers, cultural workers, creative producers and not-for-profit community arts associations in creating new Brisbane works.
The Lord Mayor’s Creative Fellowships also offer up to $10,000 for each successful applicant to support professional development.
Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner said the grants, which open Monday 6 November, will be an incredible opportunity for artists to develop their craft.
“Brisbane is Australia’s fastest growing capital city and investing in the arts is one way we are helping create a vibrant and culturally-rich destination for residents and visitors,” Cr Schrinner said.
“With the right support, creativity thrives, and Council is always looking for ways for our city’s artists, cultural workers and creative producers to grow.
We have some of the most talented creative minds right here in Brisbane and funding through the Creative Sparks Grant Program has previously supported the development of exhibitions at Metro Arts, performances at Brisbane Festival and even national tours.
We want to see applications to our Creative Sparks program that will ignite new works to be shared with Brisbane residents of all ages and abilities.
Similarly, those who have been awarded the Lord Mayor’s Creative Fellowships have used the funds to attend international residencies in Europe and America, undertake mentorships in theatre and design and train in creative technology.
Through these important investments, Council aims to build the resilience of our arts sector and continue to make Brisbane a world class arts destination.”
Applications for the Creatives Sparks Grant Program will close on Monday 11 December 2023, while applications for the Lord Mayor’s Creative Fellowships will close on Monday 18 December 2023.
The Creative Sparks Grants Program is an initiative of Brisbane City Council, in partnership with the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland, to support local arts and culture in Brisbane.
