Christmas carolers, dreamy dancers, mind-blowing magicians and festive fireworks will join the line-up of new experiences and family traditions in year’s Christmas in Brisbane program.

Festivities will officially launch with the Lighting of the Christmas Tree in King George Square on Friday 28 November, featuring performances by Australian Idol winner and country music star Dylan Wright and an all-new fireworks finale you won’t want to miss.

Family favourites including The Enchanted Garden, City Hall Lights and the Lord Mayor’s Christmas Carols will return to make the season merry and bright.

A free live broadcast of the Lord Mayor’s Christmas Carols will also be held at Roma Street Parklands, so even more people can enjoy the spectacular show.

Those exploring the Queen Street Mall during the festive season are in for some exciting new experiences at the Queen Street Mall stage, including:

  • A Christmas Dreamscape daily dance performance with all your favourite Christmas characters
  • A Christmas-themed magic and circus show from Queensland performers Rhett Marrow and Jason Gray
  • Lunchtime Christmas Carols with Underground Opera that will fill the city with Christmas classics across the week

The popular Sono Lumo will also return to Queens Wharf, projecting a nightly light and sound show across the vibrant riverside precinct.

For those celebrating closer to home, families can enjoy more than 45 free events across Brisbane’s 33 libraries or take part in over 50 free and affordable community celebrations across the suburbs, proudly supported by the Schrinner Council.

Throughout the season, the Lord Mayor’s Charitable Trust Christmas Appeal will once again collect funds to share the joy of Christmas with those in our community who need it most.
