Brisbane is set to deliver another summer of fun, with more than 500 free and affordable activities rolling out across the city.
With 90 per cent of the program completely free and paid activities starting from just $6 a person, we’re providing more for families to see and do over summer, for less.
The Christmas in Brisbane program also brings a full calendar of cost-friendly experiences to the CBD, kicking off Brisbane’s festive fun.
From much-loved traditions like the King George Square Christmas Tree and City Hall Lights, to brand-new magic shows and lunchtime carols, there are countless ways for families to enjoy the Christmas spirit.
Some of Brisbane’s favourite parks have also recently received major upgrades giving families fresh new spaces to climb, slide, splash and explore, including:
- Wynnum Wading Pool Park Playground – addition of a new shipwreck play space, beach cubby house and sand play spaces
- Taringa Playground Park – upgraded playground area, new picnic facilities and a resurfaced basketball court
Budget-friendly favourites are also back, with $2 Summer Dips returning to all 22 Council pools, providing an easy way to cool off without breaking the bank.
For active kids eager to try something new, more than 180 Active and Healthy sessions are available, covering everything from junior run squads and soccer to freestyle scooter clinics, martial arts and Zumba Kids.
Budding riders can also sharpen their skills at BMX and mountain bike workshops before taking on pump tracks at Victoria Park or Bill Brown Sports Reserve.
Families looking to beat the heat can escape to one of Council’s 33 libraries, offering more than 220 boredom-busting activities, including puppet comedy shows, chess tournaments, graphic novel gatherings, STEAM activities and hands-on creative workshops.
For an out-of-this-world cool-down, the Sir Thomas Brisbane Planetarium is showing family favourites such as Magic Globe, Tycho Goes to Mars and Perfect Little Planet, with adults able to access children’s pricing on selected sessions.
While many activities are free, several require bookings so families are encouraged to plan ahead.
