Roof restoration works at the Sandgate Library will start next month, ensuring this much-loved community hub is preserved for future generations.
Located within the Sandgate Town Hall, works to restore the library’s roof will start 7 October and are expected to take six weeks.
The library will need to close during the works to keep visitors and workers safe.
These essential repairs will protect the building’s structure, extend its life and safeguard a landmark loved by locals.
The Sandgate Library has been part of the community for more than 70 years and is key hub for free events and bringing the community together.
During the temporary closure mobile library and pop-up library services will be delivered. This will include:
- Children’s Storytime: Pop-up sessions at Einbunpin Park, Tuesdays 7 Oct – 14 Nov, 9.30am and 10.30am (weather permitting).
- Mobile Library: Decker Park car park, Brighton, Mondays from 6 Oct, 9.30am – 12pm.
- Nearby libraries: Zillmere and Bracken Ridge.
While on site, crews will also paint sections of the Town Hall’s roof as part of ongoing maintenance of the building.
Works have been scheduled to be outside the popular school holiday periods and will take place 6.30am to 6.30pm Monday to Friday, and some Saturday works if required.
Exclusion zones will be in place in and around the library during this time.
