Tuesday 3 June – Broadway Melodies
Sunshine Productions are delighted to bring highlights from the Golden Years of Broadway Musicals to the stage at City Hall. We all remember with delight the big Broadway Musicals like Singin’ in the Rain, The Wizard of Oz and The Sound of Music. Our talented cast of young performers will sing and dance their way through some of Music Theatre’s most delightful show tunes such as Do-Re-Mi, We’re off to see the Wizard and Singin’ in the Rain, and it would not be complete without a ritzy tap number like Step in Time or Broadway Melody to round out this nostalgic experience. Tuesday 10 June – Strings do Strauss
Johann Strauss II would turn 200 years old this year, and Angel Strings are here to celebrate it with you. Known as the ‘King of the Waltz’ for developing the structure, rhythmic subtlety and expressive powers of the previously simple and repetitive dance piece, Strauss contributed an abundance of works to the genre. Angel Strings quartet are thrilled to share some of these with you, including The Beautiful Blue Danube, The Emperor Waltz and Pizzicato Polka, plus the glorious overture from his operetta Die Fledermaus. Tuesday 17 June – The Beatlegs

Taking you on a journey during the fame of the most iconic rock and roll band, The Beatles, Queensland’s very own Beatles tribute show, The Beatlegs, will take you back in time to relive the years of one of the greatest rock ‘n’ roll bands of all time. The Beatlegs is the ultimate Beatles tribute show, and you won’t believe your eyes and ears, with their costume changes including the grey A Hard Day’s Night era suit and infamous Sgt. Pepper outfits, with their brilliant harmonies. This Lord Mayor’s City Hall Concert is produced by Evolution Productions.
Tuesday 24 June – Swingin’ into The Sixties
Swing along and enjoy this trip down memory lane as Robyn Brown and her incredible band bring their popular show to City Hall for the very first time. Reinterpreted with a jazz, funk and soulful twist, you’ll be toe-tapping and chair-dancing to songs like Sunshine Superman, The Beat Goes On and Mercy, Mercy, Mercy, along with favourite tunes performed with sophisticated musicality and a great sense of fun! Among the band members are musicians who have performed at the Montreux Jazz Festival, toured internationally, and have appeared many times on national TV including Spicks and Specks and Hey, Hey, It’s Saturday. Tuesday 1 July – Acoustic Guitar Spectacular
Experience stunning acoustic mastery as the highly anticipated Acoustic Guitar Spectacular returns to the City Hall stage! Hosted by renowned Brisbane guitarist Michael Fix, this intimate concert brings together a trio of Queensland’s finest musicians, with Majelen and Tom Combes completing the group. Complete with fretboard virtuosity, personal tales, and charming humour, this concert promises to be a unique journey into the heart of acoustic music, captivating music fans and guitar aficionados alike. Performing solo and ensemble pieces and traversing a wide range of genres from country to rock, classical to contemporary percussive styles, these diverse guitarists offer a rare opportunity to witness an abundance of musical talent on the one stage. Known for his brilliant fingerstyle guitar playing and captivating compositions, Michael Fix has released numerous albums, won multiple awards, (including three CMAA Golden Guitar Awards), and has toured extensively throughout Australia and the world. . Majelen’s music style is a blend of Ani DiFranco’s fire with Ed Sheeran’s storytelling and acoustic energy. A jazz guitar graduate, her percussive playing creates an immersive live experience. Her debut album, recorded at Abbey Road, drops early 2025. Tom Combes, a passionate guitarist for over 25 years, is known for his distinctive fingerpicking and percussive techniques. His debut album, Spark (2015), led to his selection for the 2016 Guitar Masters competition, showcasing his musical sensibility. This Lord Mayor’s City Hall Concert is produced by Anje West.
Tuesday 8 July – Launch of the Australian National Piano Competition for Children
The Lev Vlassenko Piano Academy presents a Special Piano Celebration Concert featuring selected Academy participants including from the upcoming Australian National Piano Competition for Children 2025 (Little Lev). This concert to launch the competition will include well-known and loved piano classics. The competition will showcase the finest young pianists aged 6 to 13 from across Australia and New Zealand as well as provide an educational program of international standard. The upcoming event will take place in the Talbot Theatre at Thomas Dixon Centre from 10th to 13th July 2025. This Lord Mayor’s City Hall Concert is produced by Salubrious Productions.
Tuesday 15 July – Celtic Women
Get ready to be swept off your feet by the delightful Australian Celtic Women show! This all-female ensemble welcomes you on a whimsical journey through rolling hills, enchanting moors, and heavenly melodies that will make your heart sing. Enjoy their angelic voices, dazzling costumes, and electrifying fiddle performances that sprinkle pure magic into the air. Enjoy celtic favourites like Danny Boy, Amazing Grace and the Skye Boat song (Outlander), while they weave a vibrant tapestry of music that lights up the stage. Tuesday 22 July – Queensland Police Pipes & Drums and Band of Blue

Queensland Police Pipes & Drums (QPP&D) were originally formed by a small group of police officers in 1958 to represent the QPS in pipe band competitions. Today, our professional musicians perform official functions at Police, Fire and Corrective Services graduations, Government House events, and Anzac Day and National Police Remembrance Day marches providing an air of tradition to formal proceedings. QPP&D serves the Queensland community by regularly performing at charity and community events. QPP&D perform at retirement villages Living and Aged Care facilities as well as performing their Kops in Kilts program at primary schools, providing crime prevention information to assist frontline police. Kops in Kilts is a fun, interactive performance involving traditional music as well as some children’s favourites. featuring old favourites such as ‘The Black Bear’ and ‘Scotland the Brave,’ and surprising many with their energetic take on ‘The Mexican Hat Dance’. QPP&D run several programs, including free tuition of the Queensland Police Juvenile Pipes & Drums, fostering positive relationships between QPS and the Queensland public through musical performances at charitable and community events. QPP&D will be joined onstage by Queensland Police Band of Blue – operational police officers with a rich history of entertainment and community engagement. The overriding aim of Band of Blue is to break down the social stereotypes of policing and enhance relationships between police and our communities through the universal language of music. Band of Blue perform at high-profile charity and community events such as Dance for Daniel, Steve Irwin Gala, and EKKA. Their performances span a wide range of genres from classic rock, blues and pop hits to jazz and country music. This Lord Mayor’s City Hall Concert is produced by Evolution Productions.
Tuesday 29 July – A Showcase of Opera, Operetta and Musical Theatre
Performed by talented classical voice students from Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University, and accompanied on piano by Jillianne Stoll (QCMGU Senior Lecturer Opera and Professional Practice), you will hear well-loved opera classics including arias and ensembles by Mozart, Puccini and Bizet, together with some light-hearted operetta by Offenbach and Franz Lehár and Music Theatre treats include selections from Carousel and Porgy & Bess. Tuesday 5 August – A Grand Affair with Brass Band and Organ
It is always a grand affair when the spectacular Father Henry Willis Organ, played by organist Phillip Gearing, is paired with the Queensland Conservatorium of Music Brass Band, under the baton of Howard Taylor. This collaboration has become somewhat of a tradition over the past few years, with concerts celebrating everything from movie themes to the Best of British. This grand concert will be another affair to remember! This Lord Mayor’s City Hall Concert is produced by Anje West, in partnership with Council’s Bands in Parks producer, Brisbane Metropolitan Bands, Helen Johns.
Tuesday 12 August – The Magic of Gatsby
Midnight Jazz brings the spirit of the roaring 1920s to life with fresh, vibrant renditions of jazz classics. Formed in Brisbane during their Bachelor of Jazz Music studies, the group features Meredith Brothers (piano), Stephanie Larman (vocals), Jeremy Klysz (double bass), Evan Evans (drums), and Ken Chow (tenor saxophone). Their dynamic performances breathe new life into timeless tunes like Stardust and Ain’t Misbehavin’, blending nostalgia with innovative arrangements. With their deep musical expertise and passion for jazz. Dress up in your best Gatsby outfit and get into the swing of this unforgettable afternoon of rhythm, melody, and toe-tapping swing. Tuesday 19 August – Jason Daniels Trio
THIS CONCERT WILL BE AUSLAN INTERPRETED.
Jason Daniels is a man that has let music take him on a journey quite unlike anything he’d ever expected. Starting his solo career in 2015 playing a blend of blues, groove and singer/songwriter, the music he’s played has taken him to over 10 countries and 500 shows supported by numerous original song releases. Along with his current solo project, Jason also plays in a range of other bands including The Dreggs, Brook St and session guitar for both Tay Oskee and Austin Mackay. His live set includes extended improve groove, fun originals with unique storytelling and special moments of sing-along connection. Tuesday 26 August – Rising Piano Stars from the Australian Piano Duo Festival
Join us for an unforgettable concert as some of Queensland’s most talented young pianists take the stage! Experience a captivating concert featuring piano classics, beloved songs and movie themes, and show-stopping performances. This concert showcases exceptional young musicians from the Young Conservatorium, Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University, and the University of Queensland School of Music Chamber Music Academy, in duos and trios at the piano, alongside leading Australian pianists supported by the Australian Piano Duo Festival.
