There has been an almost 75 per cent surge in green bin orders since the Schrinner Council slashed the price to less than $1-a-week.
More than 17,900 Brisbane households ordered a green bin in the first year of the discounted bin initiative.
By comparison 10,328 bins were ordered in the 12 months prior.
There are now more than 158,000 households who have opted for a green bin and are benefiting from the cut-price fee.

The total savings for residents over the past 12 months has exceeded $7.5 million.
The cut-price green bin initiative was introduced in 2023 as part of cost-of-living reduction measures. It followed the Schrinner Council scrapping the $30 establishment fee in 2019.
Last financial year, more than 109,000 tonnes of green waste was collected through green bins and Resource Recovery Centres, which was a 17 per cent year-on-year increase and a record high.
