The Schrinner Council is urging Brisbane residents to dig deep and donate essential items to support people in need ahead of the next Homeless Connect event in November.
In June, nearly 900 people doing it tough attended Homeless Connect, receiving meals, health checks, haircuts and vital connections to housing and employment.
Thanks to the incredible support of 381 volunteers the event delivered:
- 591 health checks
- 213 haircuts and personal care appointments
- 4574 connections to 60 services providing housing, employment, legal and community support
- 2102 meals, 600+ coffees and 41 pallets of donations shared
Building on the incredible generosity shown in June, Brisbane residents are being called on to donate essential items and support the next Homeless Connect.
Donations of toiletries, non-perishable food, clothing and other essentials will be accepted until 31 October for the event, which will take place at the Brisbane Showgrounds, Bowen Hills, on 7 November.
Everyone can drop off items at local Ward Offices or at any of the 33 Council libraries across the suburbs.
