Extra bus services will run to the city and four major suburban shopping centres in the lead up to Christmas.
Civic Cabinet Chair for Transport Ryan Murphy encouraged shoppers to leave the car at home and avoid parking hassles this Christmas.
“It’s so easy to catch the bus this Christmas, and Brisbane City Council will be putting on more services, more often for last minute shoppers,” Cr Murphy said.
“The few days before Christmas are traditionally the busiest for retailers and shoppers but no one needs the extra stress of driving.
The extra services will help shoppers avoid the stress of trying to find a car park, with buses dropping people direct to the doors of shopping precincts.”
On Thursday 22 December and Friday 23 December, there will be additional bus trips to the CBD and Indooroopilly, Garden City, Carindale and Chermside shopping precincts to coincide with extended shopping hours.
Seniors can also continue to travel for free during off-peak on weekdays (including weekday public holidays) on Council buses and ferries, and all weekend on buses.
Cr Murphy said people had already been flocking to the shops and preparing for the holiday season.
“If your shopping list is complete, the extra bus services can also get you to the many Christmas activities being held across Brisbane.
The joy of celebrating Christmas in Brisbane is back, and I would like to encourage residents to take advantage of the many events being held across the city and soak up the festive spirit.”
